“I wanna be like a warrior princess” is the longtime credo of NJ indie rock group The HUMS. Childhood best friends, Tamaru Geller and Mel Glovin began playing music together in their middle school years, The HUMS have been spreading their message across the North Jersey DIY music scene and beyond for the greater part of the decade. Playing basements, bars, and venues to crowds large and teensy, they offer a blend of alt. rock, punk, indie, and folk influences while sticking true to the raw, lo-fi lineage of DIY rockers to come out of the Garden State. Evolving their sound over time, The HUMS have invited a plethora of musician friends to their stage (presently Ædan McEvoy & Paris Maloupis), welcoming unique takes and styles to the backbone of their sound. They like cooking food, nature walks, and gorgeous doggeroos.
